Gigtime v1.2 is here — and it's our biggest update yet. Full multi-language support is now live on web and desktop, with iOS and Android rolling out this week. Every screen, every email, every invoice — all translated and ready for freelancers worldwide.
Four Languages at Launch
Version 1.2 supports English, Spanish, French, and German — covering the primary languages of our user base. The entire app interface is translated: every button, label, menu, dialog, error message, and empty state.
- 1,200+ translation keys across all four languages
- Zero hardcoded strings — every piece of user-visible text uses the localization system
- Device language detection — the app automatically picks up your phone or browser language on first login
- Manual override — switch languages anytime in Settings, independent of your device language
Client-Facing Language Control
This is where it gets interesting for freelancers who work with international clients. Each client now has a language and date format preference that controls how outbound communications look:
- Invoice PDFs — all labels (Invoice, Bill To, Amount Due, Subtotal, etc.) render in your client's language
- Invoice emails — the email template labels, greeting, and attachment note use the client's language
- Date formatting — dates on invoices and emails use the client's preferred format (MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD, or DD.MM.YYYY)
- Email defaults — when you compose an invoice email, the subject and body pre-fill in the client's language
Your app stays in your language. Your client sees theirs. Set it once per client and forget about it.
Translated Notification Emails
All notification emails now respect your language preference:
- Invoice overdue reminders
- Timer still running alerts
- Weekly summary reports
- Invoice viewed notifications
- Log hours reminders
The email subject, body, and CTA buttons are all translated. If your app is set to Spanish, your notification emails arrive in Spanish.
Marketing Site in Four Languages
The gigtime.app website is now available in all four languages too. Each page has a language switcher in the header, and search engines will show the right language version based on the searcher's location.
What's Next
We're already looking at adding more languages based on user demand. If you'd like to see Gigtime in your language, let us know — we'd love your help with translations.
Version 1.2 is live now on web and desktop. Desktop apps (Windows, macOS, Linux) auto-update. iOS and Android updates are rolling out through the App Store and Google Play this week. The web app at app.gigtime.app is always up to date.
